The World According to Martin Luther King

In Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous “I have a dream” speech, he envisioned a world in which race was no longer an issue: “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

We have advanced in leaps and bounds from the America of 1963, when King gave this address at the foot of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington. Segregation in public places and educational institutions has been outlawed, civil rights are a basic principle of our legal system and people of all races are afforded the same opportunities.

At Towne Home Care, we are proud to serve and employ people of all ethnicities. Because character is what’s important in a relationship between a senior and a caregiver, we hire certified professionals who display compassion and dedication. We are proud to follow in the footsteps of Martin Luther King Jr., who valued “content of character” above all else.

We live by the words of Martin Luther King, “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.’”

Unfortunately, our society is not yet free from discrimination, prejudice and racism. We still have a long way to go to make King’s dream come completely true. Martin Luther King Day is a time to reflect on how far we have come and how much we still have to accomplish. It’s a time to look around at our corner of the world and see how we can make a difference. A kind word, a broad smile or a helping hand are the first steps in creating a world we can all be proud of.

We appreciate caregivers everywhere who make the world a better place every day, and bring us closer to the utopia Martin Luther King dreamed of.

Happy Martin Luther King Day from Towne Home Care!
